Security forces have launched a massive search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district after CCTV footage showing two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists surfaced from a local market area.

Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched search operations in the Dengerpora and Qazibagh areas to nab the terrorists.

Reportedly, one of the terrorists seen in the footage has been identified as Mohammad Latif Bhat, a resident of Kherwan in Kulgam district. The second individual is suspected to be a Pakistani commander identified as Hanjullah, though official confirmation of his identity is still awaited.

Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel are jointly conducting searches to track down the suspects.

The CCTV footage, dated around December 25, was recorded at around 6:12 pm. According to the officials, Mohammad Latif Bhat had joined Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow outfit, the Kashmir Revolution Army (KRA), in November this year.
Security forces have been searching for the two terrorists for over 30 hours, but no breakthrough has been reported so far.

Officials said the absence of any terrorist incident during this period has made it difficult to pinpoint their location.

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) has claimed that Pakistan has again activated around 72 terrorist launch pads along the Jammu region despite setbacks suffered after India’s Operation Sindoor.

According to BSF officials, 12 launch pads are active near the International Border in the Sialkot and Zafarwal sectors, while around 60 are located along the Line of Control (LoC). Following this, border surveillance and security have been further intensified.
