Surat: The idea behind Micshaala was to provide a welcoming space for emerging artists, and it has become one of Surat’s emerging creative communities, providing a platform for talent to have a chance to emerge. The idea behind the establishment of Micshaala was a simple one, Aman Dwivedi, Varun Choudhary, Zaid Malik, Shreyanshu Tawar, Pavan Tailor and Priyanshu Mer believed that there were talented artists in Surat but they were not having an adequate platform to perform and express themselves.
The founders are amazed at the creativity and range of talent in the city as they organize open mics. From comedy and poetry to storytelling, singing and spoken word, every event is a new introduction of new artists and unique performances that prove that Surat has no shortage of talented people.
The primary goal of Micshaala is to create a stage, free from financial constraints. The majority of open mic and shows are offered free of charge so artists don’t have to pay to perform and are also welcome for audiences to attend, enjoy and support local artists without having to buy tickets. The project aims to create a solid creative community with the performers and the spectators equally received.
In addition to its regular Open Mic events, Micshaala also hosts corporate shows, college events, Line-up performances and, of course, its own “Chaar Divari” shows, which make opportunities for the artists of various backgrounds to meet with wider audiences.
As each event unfolds, Micshaala further reinforces the artistic culture of Surat, fostering the sense of creativity, confidence and community. The creators have faith that if artists are given the right platform, then there is bound to be audiences of extraordinary talent.
