Raipur, November 14: Chhattisgarh will observe Tribal Pride Day on November 15 with grand celebrations across all districts to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary freedom fighter and symbol of indigenous identity.
The state government has issued detailed guidelines for district-level events, which will feature participation from the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers, MPs and MLAs as chief guests in their respective regions.
The celebrations will include live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address through the official YouTube channel and DD News, ensuring public viewing at every major venue. A special reading of the Chief Minister’s message has also been scheduled, along with the screening of short films on flagship schemes such as PM Janman, Aadi Karmayogi and Dharti Aba.
Major Programmes Across Districts
According to the official schedule, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai will preside over the main state-level event in Jagdalpur, Bastar. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and MLA Kiran Singh Deo will also be present as special guests.

Similarly, MPs and MLAs will anchor celebrations across Balodabazar–Bhatapara, Surajpur, Khairagarh, Kabirdham, Balod, Gariaband, Jashpur, Sakti, Bijapur, Mohla–Manpur–Chowki, Dhamtari, Kondagaon, Mungeli, Narayanpur, Sukma, Dantewada and Gaurela–Pendra–Marwahi.
Honouring Tribal Heroes and Cultural Heritage
A key highlight of the district programmes will be the felicitation of families of tribal freedom fighters, representatives of tribal communities, and meritorious students.
Exhibitions showcasing tribal art, cuisine, handicrafts, traditional culture and welfare schemes will form a major attraction for citizens. Beneficiary interaction programmes will also be organised to highlight government outreach.
Schools, residential hostels and ashram schools across the state will host cultural events, seminars and competitions to introduce students to Birsa Munda’s life and tribal heritage.
