Almost 11 people were arrested by Assam Police in assam and Tripura due to their suspected links with the Bangladesh based fundamentalist groups. addressing a press conference, Guwahati Police Commissioner Parthasarathi Mahanta said the arrests were made by the Special Task Force (STF) following intelligence inputs received from central agencies.
According to the police, the arrested accused are members of the newly formed Indian Mujahideen-K.10 of them were apprehended from different parts of Assam, while one was arrested in Tripura.
“Their objective was to destabilise Assam and other parts of the Northeast. They were attempting to spread extremist ideology and disrupt communal harmony in the region,” the police commissioner said.
Further investigation is underway, and more arrests cannot be ruled out, officials added.

Police seizes incriminating documents
Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) chief, Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta, on Tuesday said that 11 operatives of the Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK) from Assam and Tripura have been arrested in a major crackdown.
He informed that Tamim, the in-charge of the Imam Mahmuder Kafila in Assam, is among those held. “A large number of incriminating documents have been seized during the operation,” Dr Mahanta said.
