Bangkok, November 21: Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, 25, was crowned Miss Universe 2025 at a glittering finale in Bangkok, marking a historic triumph for her country. Bosch emerged victorious from a field of more than 130 contestants worldwide at the 74th Miss Universe pageant. Her win delivers Mexico its fourth Miss Universe title following Lupita Jones (1991), Ximena Navarrete (2010) and Andrea Meza (2020) further cementing the nation’s legacy in international pageantry. She received the crown from outgoing titleholder Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark amid cheers and fireworks.

Bosch is a professional fashion designer and model. From an early age she faced learning difficulties diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD yet turned those challenges into sources of resilience and creativity. She pursued her passion for design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and furthered her studies at Vermont’s Lyndon Institute and Italy’s Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. Now known for her sustainable fashion focus, Bosch creates clothing by giving new life to discarded materials, blending artistry with purpose.
Beyond the runway, Bosch has devoted herself to humanitarian causes. For nearly a decade she has volunteered at children’s hospitals, even organizing an annual Christmas toy drive for young cancer patients. Friends and family describe her as compassionate and driven, qualities that have shaped her platform as a beauty queen.

Standing Up Amid Controversy
While Bosch’s pageant journey was filled with glamour and cultural pride she dazzled in the national costume segment wearing a spectacular outfit inspired by Xochiquétzal, the Mexica goddess of beauty and creativity it was not without turbulence. Earlier this month in Thailand, a pageant official, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly reprimanded Bosch during a sponsor event, allegedly calling her “dumb” for not completing a social media obligation.
The incident, caught on a livestream, showed Bosch walking out of the meeting in her evening gown, refusing to tolerate the disrespect. “What your director did is not respectful he called me dumb,” she told reporters, asserting that empowered women must make their voices heard.

Bosch’s stand prompted several fellow contestants including reigning Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Theilvig to leave the room in solidarity. The Miss Universe Organization swiftly condemned the official’s behavior, and Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum publicly praised Bosch as “an example of how women should speak out” when facing aggression. Sheinbaum lauded the young Mexicana’s composure, saying women “look prettier when we speak out,” and applauded Bosch for defending her dignity on the world stage.
Empowering Message and Year Ahead
In the final question-and-answer round of the competition, Bosch highlighted the importance of authenticity and female empowerment. Asked about the challenges of being a woman in 2025 and how she would use the Miss Universe platform to help others, she spoke about women’s courage to “speak up and make a change” and “stand up” for what is right.
For her last question on empowering the next generation, Bosch urged young girls to believe in “the power of [their] authenticity” and to never let anyone make them doubt their worth. The judges and audience responded with loud applause to her confident, heartfelt answers.
With the crown now placed on her head, Fátima Bosch begins a year-long reign poised to turn words into action. She has indicated she will continue championing the causes closest to her heart from children’s health and education to mental wellness and migrant rights on a global scale.

As Mexico’s newest Miss Universe, Bosch aims to inspire others by leading with the same authenticity, compassion, and determination that earned her the crown. Her victory not only adds a new chapter to Mexico’s pageant history but also sets the stage for a reign focused on empowerment and positive impact in the year ahead.
