Mumbai: The New Year began on a thrilling note for cinema lovers as director Sandeep Reddy Vanga unveiled the first-look poster of his upcoming film Spirit. The much-awaited reveal took place exactly at midnight, turning January 1 into a celebration for fans of Prabhas and Vanga alike. As soon as the poster dropped, it grabbed attention across social media and entertainment circles, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about film reveals of 2026.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, two names known for intense and high-impact storytelling. The movie features Triptii Dimri as the opposite of Prabhas, creating more curiosity regarding the project.
A Raw and Intense First Look That Sets the Tone
The first-look poster presents Prabhas in a striking and gritty avatar. He is seen shirtless with his back facing the camera, revealing visible bruises and wounds across his body. Bandages wrapped around his shoulder, back, and hands hint at a violent and emotionally charged narrative. With long hair, a huge beard and a moustache, Prabhas has a tough, battle-damaged appearance that has already invited comparisons to the role of Ranbir Kapoor in the recent blockbuster Animal by Vanga.
Adding to the mood of the poster, Triptii Dimri is shown lighting Prabhas’s cigarette while he holds a glass of alcohol. The image has unfiltered and raw energy, which is a clear reflection of the signature style of filmmaking by Vanga. The poster alone creates a solid impression that Spirit will be aggressive, gloomy, and emotionally motivated.
New Year Tradition Continues for Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Interestingly, unveiling Spirit on New Year’s midnight follows a pattern Vanga has used before. He had previously caused a lot of buzz by teasing Animal on the New Year, which turned out to be a highly successful strategy. Ahead of the Spirit reveal, the director once again teased fans on December 31 by posting, “People… A few hours more for SPIRIT – First Poster,” which only heightened anticipation.
This was a calculated step that was timed correctly, and the fans were counting down the hours to the revelation. The similarity in promotional style has also reminded audiences of Animal, making the comparisons between the two films even stronger.
About Spirit
Spirit is written, edited, and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar, and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga produce the film under the T-Series banner. The film is mounted on a massive scale and is meant to keep pace with the pan-India stardom of Prabhas and the provocative storytelling style of Vanga.
Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film also features Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana, among others, making it a strong ensemble cast. The makers plan a massive multilingual release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean, highlighting the global ambitions of the project.
The audio teaser of Spirit had been previously released in five Indian languages on the 46 th birthday of Prabhas last year, and provided the fans with a little preview of the fierce world of the film. The movie is officially scheduled to hit theatres in 2026.
Casting Controversy That Kept Spirit in Headlines
Spirit had already been in the spotlight even before the first look due to a major casting change. Deepika Padukone, who was initially associated with the project, exited the film citing work-hour demands. After her departure, Sandeep Reddy Vanga posted an indirect comment on social media, labeled as a PR strategy, without mentioning the actress.
Shortly afterwards, Triptii Dimri was cast as the female lead. Her casting added to the buzz, especially since she had previously worked with Vanga in Animal in 2023. Spirit also marks Triptii’s first collaboration with Prabhas, making her role even more anticipated.
