Mumbai: After years of waiting, Farah Khan has finally given fans the news they have been hoping for. The popular choreographer turned filmmaker has confirmed that she is ready to direct her next film. Although she continues to have gigantic success with her fun and sincere YouTube vlogs, Farah claims that the moment has come to go back to the director chair.
Farah Khan made the big revelation in her latest vlog where she visited actor Nakuul Mehta at his Mumbai home. As they talked, Nakuul told them how he misses the type of entertaining movies Farah used to create. It is at that point that Farah announced that she is coming back to be a director by the end of this year.

Farah shared that she had taken a step back from filmmaking to focus on her children. She said that once her kids leave for college, she plans to start work on her next film. She further added that there is an online petition entitled as ‘Wapas Aao Farah Khan’ that made her realise the extent to which viewers are missing her films.
The biggest highlight of the conversation was Farah confirming that if she directs her next film, it will star Shah Rukh Khan. She said jokingly that in case that is not the case, then she is content with YouTube at the moment because it can enable her to pay the fees of her children. The sarcastic remark was a good fit to the humorous nature that has helped her vlogs to gain popularity.
Her journey so far
Farah Khan has directed some of Bollywood’s most loved entertainers. Her films include Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and Tees Maar Khan, all of which are known for their music, drama and larger than life storytelling. Her final film as a director was Happy New Year in 2014. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani and it turned out to be a box office hit.
In 2025, Farah surprised fans by starting her own YouTube channel. Encouraged by her team, she decided to show her real self through vlogs. Her cook Dilip was a hidden talent that emerged because he was seen in the videos providing comic punchlines and playful jokes with Farah. The duo immediately gained the affection of the internet.
What’s next for Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Dunki, which released in 2023. He will next be seen in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film King, though the release date has not yet been announced. Should his plans work out the way he hopes they will, the iconic filmmaker actor duo may soon be reuniting on the big screen once again.
As Farah Khan now officially hints at her return to directing and Shah Rukh Khan as her first choice, the level of excitement among Bollywood fans is undoubtedly growing. The countdown to her comeback has truly begun.
