Yash is preparing for a major theatrical return with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, and early advance-booking trends suggest the film could open strongly across multiple markets. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, which also stars Kiara Advani, has generated significant pre-release interest, particularly in Karnataka, while its Hindi version is beginning to gather pace in national multiplex chains.
According to a box-office report by Pinkvilla, the Hindi version had sold more than 104,000 tickets for opening day across PVR INOX and Cinepolis by late Sunday, August 23. The publication reported around 89,000 admissions at PVR INOX and another 15,000 at Cinepolis. While the pace slowed after an aggressive start to advance sales, the film was still tracking toward a substantial finish before release.
Strong Demand Beyond the Hindi Market
The larger advance-booking picture is even stronger when all language versions are considered. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported substantial early sales across India, with Karnataka emerging as the film’s strongest market. Earlier booking data showed the Kannada version leading the advance gross, followed by Hindi.
NDTV, also citing advance-booking estimates, reported that the film had crossed 2.6 lakh tickets sold across India by August 22, with its advance gross approaching ₹20 crore when blocked seats were included.
The early response is particularly significant because Toxic marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2 in 2022. That gap has contributed to considerable curiosity around the project, especially in southern markets where Yash commands a large fan base.
Can Toxic Deliver a Breakout Hindi Opening?
The bigger question now is how strongly the film can convert its advance-booking interest into first-day footfalls in the Hindi market. Pinkvilla’s report suggests that Toxic has the potential to register one of the strongest Hindi openings for a standalone pan-India release if ticket sales accelerate in the final phase and spot bookings remain healthy.
The Hindi market will be particularly important for the film’s overall box-office trajectory. Yash’s previous release, KGF: Chapter 2, had established him as a major draw beyond the Kannada industry, and Toxic will test how much of that audience has carried forward into his next standalone project.
The film’s cast adds to its pan-India positioning. Alongside Yash and Kiara Advani, Toxic features Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Akshay Oberoi. The project is produced on a large scale by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
All Eyes on August 26
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled to release theatrically on August 26, 2026. Early sales indicate a strong opening base, but the final outcome will depend on the last stretch of advance bookings, walk-in audiences and, most importantly, word of mouth after the first shows.
For now, the numbers point to one thing clearly: Yash’s return has already become one of the most closely watched box-office stories of the week.
