Khokan Chandra Das, the Hindu businessman who was stabbed in Bangladesh succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at National Burn Institute in Dhaka.

Confirming the death, Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, Professor at the National Burn Institute, told ANI over the phone, “Khokon Das, who sustained burn injuries in a fire attack in Damudya Upazila of Shariatpur, passed away at 7:20 am today while under treatment at the National Burn Institute.”
Hospital sources said Das had been undergoing treatment for nearly three days. Doctors stated that around 30 per cent of his body had suffered burns, with severe injuries to his face and respiratory tract. Authorities added that formalities were underway to hand over the body to the family for its return to his village home.
Khokan Das was attacked while returning home
The 50-year-old businessman Khokan Das owned a pharmacy shop in Keurbhanga Bazar in Bangladesh’s Shariatpur district. He was set on fire after being assaulted with sharp edged weapon by the assailants.
The incident occurred near Keurbhanga Bazar in Damudya while Das was returning home after closing his shop, according to police and local media reports.
The assailants reportedly beat him severely, attacked him with a sharp weapon, and then poured petrol over him before setting him ablaze.
Das jumped into a roadside pond to escape, prompting locals to raise an alarm. The attackers fled the scene.
