New Delhi: India and Russia on Thursday held high-level discussions to strengthen cooperation in the agriculture sector. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut in New Delhi, where both sides explored new opportunities in modern farming, research exchange, innovation, and sustainable agricultural development.
Chouhan described the meeting as an important step toward enhancing bilateral engagement, noting that India–Russia relations have seen a “remarkable and positive transformation” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the two countries are looking to intensify collaboration that can support farmers and expand agri-trade.
During the interaction, both ministers discussed ways to build a stronger framework for cooperation, including technological advancement, knowledge-sharing, and avenues for boosting productivity through joint initiatives. The Indian minister expressed confidence that the partnership would bring “new direction and meaningful change” to the agriculture sector of both nations.
Chouhan added that India and Russia are committed to creating opportunities that support sustainable growth and empower farmers. The meeting is expected to pave the way for deeper institutional cooperation and future agreements in the agriculture domain.
