The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has re-released a photograph of President Donald Trump that appeared in documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The photo also includes Melania Trump. The Department clarified that the image does not show any victim connected to the Epstein case.
The photograph, which shows a desk drawer containing a picture of Trump with several women, had been removed earlier for review by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. Officials said the move was meant to protect potential victims.
Opposition claims, gov is trying to save Trump
After the photograph was taken down, leaders in the Democratic party accused the government of trying to shield Donald Trump. Despite this, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blansh stated “There is no connection to Trump in our removal.”

“They wanted us to remove the image to enable an investigation to take place,” he said, indicating that it was a request from groups advocating for victim’s rights.
The Justice Department stated that it is “fully committed to transparency” and will remove data only when it is “required by law.” It has to protect data related to victims, juveniles, and other sensitive data. The DOJ also stated that it does not remove any data to protect any “political figure” or “public personality.”
According to The Department, it has received requests from some individuals and their lawyers that claim to be victims and request the removal of specific details. This is where content is removed and reviewed until it is re-published.
Three lakh documents were released on Friday
The Justice Department released around three lakh documents on Friday at 2:30 am (Indian time) as part of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
The documents included photographs of well-known figures such as former US President Bill Clinton and pop star Michael Jackson. Donald Trump’s name appeared very rarely in the records. However, his name had previously appeared in Epstein’s private jet flight logs released in February.
Many victims’ interviews, copies of Epstein conviction not released
The newly released files contained photographs of Epstein’s residential properties in New York and US Virgin Islands, as well as photos of various celebrities and political figures.
However, important documents were withheld. These included FBI interviews with some victims as well as copies of the Justice Department’s decision that resulted in Epstein being convicted for a petty offense rather than being charged with sex trafficking.
The lack of these documents has raised questions once again about what role the prosecution may have played in this case in the 2000s and why Epstein was treated so leniently. Other key figures such as Prince Andrew of Britain were merely mentioned briefly.
The Democratic Party members of the House Oversight Committee were surprised by the temporary removal of Trump’s photograph and asked, “What else is being hidden?” They accused the Justice Department of a cover-up and called for all transparency on the part of the American people.
