Pirojpur, Bangladesh: At least five Hindu households were set on fire in Bangladesh. The incident took place on Saturday, 27 December, in Damritala village of Pirojpur district.

According to the families, they were trapped inside their homes when the fire broke out, as the doors were locked from outside. Eight members from the affected families managed to escape by cutting through tin and bamboo fences, but their houses, belongings, and pets were completely destroyed.

Local police have arrested five suspects in connection with the case. Officials said the exact reasons behind the fire are still unclear. Media reports stated that the attackers stuffed a room with clothes and set it on fire, which caused the flames to spread rapidly throughout the house.
