New Delhi/Patna: Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections…something that’s drawing eyes from every corner of the country. Voting on November 6 and 11, results on the 14th … With 243 seats at stake, it’s a mix of familiar faces, shifting alliances, and real issues like jobs and welfare that affect us all.

But let’s explore the key angle here:

“The Youth Factor.”

Bihar’s electorate is one of the youngest in India… over 40% under 35, millions voting for the first time. Jobs are their top worry,

Special Report with Samiksha Ajay

with youth unemployment around 15% pushing folks to migrate to places like Delhi or Mumbai…acc. to The Hindu’s analysis of PLFS August 2025 data, where the 15-29 age group rate stands at 14.6%, far above the national average…

So

How are parties responding? And could this tip the scales? It’s worth exploring, because a strong youth turnout might not just change Bihar, it could influence how we handle youth policies nationwide.

Take Tejashwi yadav from the RJD…he’s 35, so he gets it.

Registering from Raghopur again he’s bringing back that 2020 promise of 10 lakh jobs, adding skill centers and fixes for exam paper leaks that drive young people nuts.

He’s out there touring colleges and villages, connecting directly ….

His Mahagathbandhan team, with Congress and the Left…. builds on that…

linking to things like rising education costs and inflation that squeeze young families, much like rahul gandhi’s points nationally.

And they’ve snatched a few leaders from the NDA lately, which shows some real pull among frustrated youth.

Over on the NDA, nitish kumar‘s JD(U) and BJP are sharing 101 seats each, focusing on steady programs. Their “Saat Nishchay” offers student credit cards for studies and loans to start businesses.

Nitish Kumar, in his 70s, reaches youth through family support, like better roads that cut job-hunt travel time, or Jeevika groups helping young women in self-help ventures. The BJP layers on PM Modi’s schemes, like Mudra loans and Startup India, boasting over 5 lakh beneficiaries here as per PIB release…..

Releasing 71 candidates early, including fresh faces, gives them that energetic vibe.

Then there’s Chirag Paswan with LJP’s 29 seats…he’s 42, a Union Minister targeting young Dalits.

He spotlights job reservations and community boosts, sticking loyal to NDA for those central funds that could flow into more youth initiatives.

And the fresh twists?

Maithili Thakur, just 25, the folk singer with millions followers online…she has joined BJP for Alinagar.

In this digital era, she’s a smart pick…embodying cultural pride and dreams, linking Bihar’s songs to real development, and helping shake off that “old guard” label for Mithila’s younger crowd.

Tej pratap yadav, Lalu’s prasad yadav’s elder son, adds his own spin…. Launching janshakti janata dal , going bold on anti-corruption that hits home for youth burned by exam scams, especially young yadavs ready for something new.

And pashant kishor with jan suraaj….he’s not running himself .. but putting up educated pros promising school upgrades, ways to stop migration, even rethinking the liquor ban for job-creating revenue.

Other parties chip in too… owaisi’s AIMIM talks education and security for minority youth… AAP and CPI(ML) focus on city job woes and farmers’ sons, turning over 50 seats into real battles.

Now, what are people saying? Surveys like Matrize give NDA the overall lead at 150-160 seats—BJP 80-85, JD(U) 60-65 (poll details from News18 and Mathrubhumi English). But zoom into youth: Tejashwi pulls 40-45% among under-30s with his job focus, NDA gets 35% on their programs (acc. To the The Economic Times)

So, will Bihar’s youth step up and demand real accountability? It’s fascinating to watch it unfold.
