Bangkok, November 21: In a historic and emotional triumph, Mexico’s Fátima Bosch has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, overcoming controversy and adversity to claim the prestigious title at the 74th Miss Universe pageant held at Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Final Results
The competition concluded with the following placements:
- Winner: Fátima Bosch (Mexico)
- 1st Runner-up: Praveenar “Veena” Singh (Thailand)
- 2nd Runner-up: Stephany Abasali (Venezuela)
- 3rd Runner-up: Ahtisa Manalo (Philippines)
- Top 5: Olivia Yacé (Côte d’Ivoire)
A Victory Against All Odds
Fátima Bosch’s journey to the crown was marked by remarkable resilience. Earlier in the competition, she faced public humiliation when Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil criticized her for insufficient promotional content, allegedly calling her a “dumbhead” and having security escort her from a meeting. The incident sparked international outrage, with Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum publicly defending Bosch’s dignity.
Despite the controversy, Bosch maintained her composure and delivered exceptional performances throughout the preliminary rounds, evening gown competition, and the crucial final question-and-answer session. Her grace under pressure ultimately won over the judges and global audience.
Host Nation Heartbreak
Thailand’s Praveenar “Veena” Singh finished as first runner-up, narrowly missing the crown despite home advantage and tremendous local support. The 28-year-old, who won Miss Universe Thailand on her fourth attempt, delivered outstanding performances but fell just short of delivering Thailand’s third Miss Universe title.
Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, who entered as the bookmakers’ favorite, secured second runner-up position. The result means Venezuela’s quest for an eighth Miss Universe crown continues, remaining two titles behind the United States’ record of nine.
The Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo finished as third runner-up, while Côte d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yacé rounded out the Top 5, making history as one of only three Ivorian women to compete at Miss Universe.
The Crowning Moment
Fátima Bosch received the “Lumière de l’Infini” crown from outgoing titleholder Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark. The handcrafted crown features 23 South Sea golden pearls and represents the highest achievement in international pageantry.

Mexico’s victory marks a powerful moment of redemption and demonstrates that dignity, resilience, and talent ultimately prevail. Bosch will now serve as Miss Universe 2025, representing the organization globally throughout her year-long reign.
