Mumbai: Smriti Mandhana put on an absolute clinic today, smashing a sensational century against New Zealand in the crucial Women’s World Cup match at the DY Patil Stadium. The Indian vice-captain was in breathtaking form, reminding everyone why she’s one of the best in the business.
This wasn’t just a century; it was a statement.
Mandhana looked in the zone from the start, taking the Kiwi bowlers apart. She raced to her hundred in just 88 balls, playing shots all around the ground. By the time her onslaught ended she had piled up 109 runs off only 95 balls an innings packed with 10 classy fours and 4 massive sixes.

It was a knock of pure dominance and timing.
This incredible innings marks her 14th ODI century, putting her just one behind Meg Lanning’s all-time world record of 15. It’s also the very first hundred scored by an Indian batter in this 2025 World Cup, breaking a much-talked-about dry spell.
A Record-Breaking Day for India
Mandhana didn’t do it alone. She was part of a historic opening stand with Pratika Rawal, who was brilliant in her own right, scoring a superb 122.
The pair completely demoralized the New Zealand attack, putting on a mammoth 212-run partnership. This is now the highest partnership for any wicket by India in the history of the Women’s World Cup.
Thanks to Mandhana’s and Rawal’s heroics, India has set a massive total and is in a commanding position to win this vital match.
