Delhi, 18 September (H.S.): The United States has revoked and denied visas for several business executives and corporate leaders allegedly involved in trafficking fentanyl precursors, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi announced on Thursday.

The action was taken under Section 221(i), Section 212(a)(2)(C), and Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

As a result, the affected individuals and their immediate family members may now be barred from entering the United States. Embassy officials added that executives linked to companies associated with fentanyl precursor trafficking will face heightened scrutiny in future visa applications.

“The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi remains steadfast in its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking. Individuals and organizations engaged in the illegal production and trafficking of drugs to the United States, along with their families, will face consequences that may include being denied access to the United States,” said Chargé d’affaires Jorgan Andrews.

Curbing the flow of fentanyl and its precursors into the United States is a top priority for Washington. The Embassy expressed appreciation for the Government of India’s cooperation, emphasizing that the two countries must continue working together to address this transnational threat.

The Trump Administration has already taken a series of steps to confront the crisis, including executive orders to secure borders, dismantle drug trafficking networks, and press source countries to reform.

“These measures reflect our shared commitment to building a safer, healthier, and stronger future for both America and India,” Andrews said.
