Phars Film to distribute Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film ‘King’ globally, with impressive pre-release economics revealed.
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’, directed by Siddarth Anand, is set to make its international debut on December 24, coinciding with its release in India. The film will be distributed overseas by Phars Film, which has expressed pride in bringing this highly anticipated project to global audiences.
Phars Film Chairman, Ahmad Golchin, highlighted the significance of this release, stating that it represents a major achievement for the company. He noted, “Since Shah Rukh Khan is a global icon, it is both a privilege and a great source of pride for our whole team that we are bringing ‘King’ to the big screen.” The film is expected to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience, combining high-octane action with star power.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in collaboration with Marflix Pictures, ‘King’ marks the reunion of Khan and Anand following their successful collaboration on the blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ in 2023. The film features a star-studded cast, including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, and Suhana Khan.
In terms of production costs, ‘King’ has been budgeted at approximately Rs. 400 crore, making it one of the most expensive Bollywood films to date. This figure does not include Khan’s acting fee, which could push the total cost to around Rs. 500 crore. The film has already secured a record overseas minimum guarantee of Rs. 175 crore, alongside domestic theatrical rights sold for Rs. 250 crore, bringing total theatrical recoveries to Rs. 425 crore.
Additionally, the film has garnered significant interest in the non-theatrical market, with Netflix acquiring the digital rights for a base price of Rs. 150 crore, and music rights fetching Rs. 65 crore. Overall, the projected recoveries for ‘King’ could reach an impressive Rs. 665 crore, showcasing the confidence investors have in Khan’s enduring superstardom.
