The Bombay High Court has granted anti-piracy protection to ‘Ramayana: Part 1’, while advance bookings show promising figures despite Pre-Diwali challenges.
As the highly anticipated film Ramayana: Part 1 prepares for its worldwide release on November 5, 2026, the Bombay High Court has taken significant steps to protect it from piracy. The court issued a dynamic ad-interim injunction aimed at preventing unauthorized recording, circulation, and online distribution of the film, following a commercial suit filed by Godpower Media Private Limited.
Godpower Media, which holds the intellectual property rights for the film, expressed concerns over potential copyright violations, particularly after unauthorized footage surfaced online. Justice Madhav Jamdar acknowledged the company’s apprehensions, noting the substantial financial investment in the project, estimated at Rs. 2,000 crore for the first part alone.
The injunction allows the film’s producers to notify internet service providers and digital platforms about infringing content, facilitating swift action against piracy. Legal representatives for major platforms, including Google, have indicated their compliance with the court’s directive.
In conjunction with these legal developments, advance bookings for Ramayana: Part 1 have reportedly reached Rs. 30 crore, with the Hindi version alone contributing approximately Rs. 27 crore. However, the film faces challenges due to the Pre-Diwali period, which traditionally sees a slowdown in box office sales, particularly in Northern states.
Despite these hurdles, the film’s advance ticket sales have been strong in major metro areas, with a total of 198,000 tickets sold. The film’s opening day is projected to generate around Rs. 50 crore nett, contingent on walk-up business following the Diwali festivities.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 features a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film is set to release in multiple languages, aiming to appeal to a wide audience.
