New York/Delhi, 25 September (H.S.): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Mexico, Cyprus, and Pacific Island nations on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships.
On Wednesday, Jaishankar met Juan Ramon de la Fuente, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, where both leaders agreed to build on recent exchanges and chart a fresh roadmap to enhance bilateral ties.
He also held discussions with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, reviewing the progress in relations since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus earlier this year. Jaishankar said he appreciated Kombos’ insights on European developments and reaffirmed India’s support for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Cyprus Question in line with the UN framework and UNSC resolutions.
The External Affairs Minister further expressed his intent to welcome Kombos to India soon, while underlining New Delhi’s continued focus on expanding its global partnerships.
