The event is part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s 75th-anniversary celebrations and features naval ships, delegations, and observers from multiple countries.

This marks the first overseas deployment for both Indian warships and underscores India’s commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

INS Vikrant Makes First International Appearance

INS Vikrant’s participation in the multinational review highlights India’s growing engagement with navies across the Indian Ocean and showcases the country’s emphasis on promoting regional peace, stability, and security through collaboration and interoperability.

Commissioned in 2022, Vikrant is India’s first aircraft carrier to be designed and built indigenously, considered a major milestone in India’s naval and industrial capability.

INS Udaygiri Highlights Indigenous Shipbuilding Capabilities

INS Udaygiri, a recently commissioned guided-missile frigate, represents the latest advancements in India’s home-grown shipbuilding program. Its presence at IFR 2025 further demonstrates India’s expanding naval footprint and operational readiness in the region.

Programmes in Colombo

During the port call in Colombo, the two Indian Navy vessels will take part in several IFR-related activities, including:

  • the formal Fleet Review
