New Delhi, September 12 (HS): Panic gripped the Delhi High Court on Friday morning after an email threatened to blow up the court premises with planted explosives. However, after extensive checks by security agencies, the threat was confirmed to be a hoax.
According to officials, the threat mail was received at 8:39 a.m. on the official email ID of Registrar Arun Bhardwaj. The message claimed that three bombs had been planted inside judges’ chambers and directed that the premises be vacated by 2:00 p.m.
Following the alert, the court complex was evacuated as a precaution, with judges and staff vacating their respective courtrooms. The bomb disposal squad, along with fire brigade units, were immediately called in. Security personnel thoroughly searched the entire complex.
After hours of inspection, authorities declared the threat false, bringing relief to the staff and visitors. Investigations are underway to trace the source of the threatening email.
