Mumbai: Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic drama Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has not been able to cash in on the extended Christmas weekend. Released on December 25, the movie had been anticipated to pick up during the holidays. The box office story however has so far indicated that the film is struggling to an uphill battle.

Despite a festive release and popular leads, the movie has failed to show strong growth over its first four days. Initial projections show that viewer appeal has been minimal, even on Sunday, which is traditionally a tremendous day in terms of theatrical releases.

Tu Meri Main Tera Box Office Collection After 4 Days

The film earned approximately Rs 4.97 crore on the fourth Day but this was on Sunday according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. The collections recorded a slight downturn instead of a jump, which indicates weak word of mouth.

Here is a clear look at the day-wise box office performance:

  • Day 1 Thursday: Rs 7.75 crore
  • Day 2 Friday: Rs 5.25 crore
  • Day 3 Saturday: Rs 5.5 crore
  • Day 4 Sunday: Rs 4.97 crore (early estimates)

With these numbers, the total collection after four days stands at Rs 23.47 crore. The movie has failed to touch the significant Rs 30 crore mark during the opening weekend, a figure considered by many as required of romantic films with a mid to high budget.

Strong Competition Affects Box Office Run

One of the major reasons behind the slow pace of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is the tough competition at the cinemas. The spy thriller Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh, directed by Aditya Dhar, is still running strong. The action movie is not only said to be doing better than the daily earnings of the Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday star, but also ruling the screens and footfalls.

Adding to the pressure is James Cameron’s Hollywood spectacle Avatar: Fire And Ash. The film remains a big draw, especially in multiplexes, further splitting audience attention during the holiday season.

About the Film and Its Story

Directed by Sameer Sanjay Vidwans, Tu Meri Main Tera Tera Tu Meri is a love story of Ray and Rumi, which stars Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. Their love flourishes as they take a scenic vacation to Croatia but is hit by emotional difficulties.

The conflict arises when Rumi struggles with the idea of leaving her aging ex Army father, played by Jackie Shroff, behind in Agra to move to the US. The film also features Neena Gupta and Aruna Irani in key roles. It is produced by Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures.
