Jeremy Culhane's impression of Elon Musk takes centre stage as ‘SNL’ delivers a brutal roast following the midterm elections.
In a memorable segment on the latest episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL), Jeremy Culhane’s impression of Elon Musk took centre stage during the ‘Weekend Update’ segment, delivering a comedic postmortem of the recent midterm elections. The sketch highlighted Musk’s significant financial backing of Republican candidates, which ultimately resulted in disappointing outcomes for many of them.
Colin Jost, co-anchor of ‘Weekend Update’, opened the segment by addressing Musk’s recent spending spree, noting, “Elon, you’ve been in the news because you wasted half a billion dollars on the midterms.” Culhane’s Musk responded with a humorous twist, insisting, “No, I’m in the news because my car did a flip! My car did a flip, remember? It was like a frickin’ Hot Wheel.” This light-hearted banter set the tone for the roast that followed.
As the segment progressed, Culhane’s Musk embraced the roast, stating, “Nice! That was like an epic roast of me. Most vulgar. You know, that’s what I call an epic vulgar roast. And it’s time for a pounding.” He then introduced an AI feature named Grok, which he claimed could generate an “epic vulgar roast.” The AI delivered a particularly biting line: “Elon Musk, you’re the worst thing South Africa has ever done. When you’re on TV, it feels like an episode of Hate on the Spectrum. Maybe if you have 100 more kids, one of them will talk to you.”
This segment comes in the wake of Musk’s attempts to downplay his election losses, joking about the appeal of data centres in space and referencing his controversial investments. The episode also marked the hosting debut of internet personality Druski, who joined The Strokes as the musical guest, making this a notable night for the iconic sketch show.
