Mumbai: The cult-favourite web series Mirzapur is all set to make its grand leap to the big screens with Mirzapur: The Film and fans are going gaga over it. Adding to the excitement, Panchayat fame Jitendra Kumar has supposedly been cast and the reveal is that, Jitendra will be seen as Bablu Pandit, who was initially portrayed by Vikrant Massey.

According to the reports by Mid-Day, Jitendra Kumar has already finished shooting his major portions in the film and should complete the shoot by the end of October. The movie is being filmed in Varanasi and Mumbai, and it recreates the world of Mirzapur with all of its rawness and drama. Those who recall, Bablu Pandit, played by Vikrant Massey, died in the first season in a very tragic incident. Of course, the fans are talking about how the makers are going to bring the favorite character back to the movie.

One of the sources near the project told, Vikrant had given Bablu a rare innocence and subtle power, which could not be found elsewhere. That spirit will remain intact in the version by Jitendra. He makes the screen warm, sincere, and somehow affable. His chemistry with Ali Fazal will be something to look out for. Also, Jitendra is immensely popular in the heartland of India and therefore an ideal fit in the Mirzapur world.

India First Web Series To Receive A Big-Screen Spin-Off.

Announced in 2024, Mirzapur: The Film is being directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, who built the bombastic Mirzapur saga. It is a historical one, as the movie is the first web series to be adapted into a full-fledged theatrical movie in India.

The cast is star-studded with Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Abhishek Banerjee and allegedly, Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Golu. The filmmakers are sparing nothing to spread the gritty crime, politics, and power that has turned the franchise into a phenomenon. Reports suggest the movie will have a theatrical release in 2026 and then digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Mirzapur: The Film is shaping up to be one of the biggest movie events of 2026.
