Mumbai: Dhanush’s personal life has once again become the centre of attention after fresh rumours about his alleged wedding with actor Mrunal Thakur surfaced online. The speculation comes years after the National Award winning actor ended his 18 year long marriage with Aishwarya Rajinikanth, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth. Even though Dhanush and Aishwarya have been friends and share custody of their sons Yatra and Linga, his love life keeps raising eyebrows among their fans and the media as well.
According to an unverified post that began circulating on social media, Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur are reportedly planning to tie the knot on February 14, choosing Valentine’s Day for a highly private wedding ceremony. The report stated that the event would be an intimate one because only close family members and friends would be invited. The word went round quickly and it became one of the most talked about in the entertainment circles.

Wedding rumours dismissed by close source
Amid the growing buzz, a source close to Dhanush has firmly denied the marriage rumours. In an interview with Deccan Herald, the insider described the reports as being totally fake and baseless, and urged the population not to be influenced by online guesses. Neither Dhanush nor Mrunal Thakur has released any official statement confirming or denying the wedding reports so far.
Despite the denial, the rumours have continued to gain traction, largely because the actors have been linked romantically for some time now. Earlier, a source had told News18 that Dhanush and Mrunal are indeed dating but prefer to keep their relationship away from the spotlight. The source also reported that the two are not in a rush to make their relationship official yet they are comfortable with each other seeing each other out.
How Dhanush and Mrunal’s dating rumours began
Speculation around Dhanush and Mrunal Thakur’s relationship first began in August 2025. Dhanush was spotted attending the premiere of Mrunal’s film Son of Sardaar 2, which caught the attention of fans. Shortly after, Mrunal appeared in the wrap up party of Dhanush in the movie Tere Ishk Mein which created more dating rumors.
Adding to the curiosity, fans noticed that Mrunal follows Dhanush’s sisters, Dr Karthika Karthik and Vimala Geetha, on Instagram, which many took as a subtle hint of closeness. But Mrunal had previously spoken about the speculation and explained that Dhanush is simply a good friend and the fans were divided on what to believe.
A look at Dhanush’s past and upcoming projects

Dhanush was previously married to Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth for nearly two decades. The former couple met on the sets of his 2003 film Kadhal Kondaen and announced their separation in 2022. Their divorce was finalised in 2024, after which Dhanush was linked to Mrunal Thakur.
On the professional front, Dhanush has a busy lineup ahead. His next appearance will be in the action thriller Kara to be directed by Vignesh Raja. The film is expected to hit theatres in summer 2026, though the exact release date is yet to be announced.
Mrunal Thakur, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of her romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein, where she stars opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on February 20.
