Mumbai: Dharma Productions has finally locked a fresh release date for its much-awaited romantic drama, Chand Mera Dil. Starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya in the lead roles, the film is now set to release in theatres on May 8, 2026. Fans have been waiting anxiously and eagerly receiving the update with relief and excitement to the musical love story since the announcement.
Originally planned for an April 10, 2026 release, the film has now been pushed to May to make the most of the summer holiday season. The new release date will place the movie in a strong theatrical window, which is known to attract a great number of people to the theatre theatres.
A Musical Love Story Backed by Dharma
Chand Mera Dil, directed by Vivek Soni, the director of Meenakshi Sundareshwar, is being termed as a passionate musical romance. The movie initially drew attention in November 2024 when producer Karan Johar released its first-look posters. The tagline, “Pyaar mein thoda paagal hona hi padta hai”, instantly struck a chord with audiences and set the tone for an emotionally driven love story.
The project is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Adar Poonawalla. It is among the largest theatrical demands under Dharma Productions and Adar Poonawala union, so it is a significant release of the banner in 2026.
Lakshya’s Rising Bollywood Journey
Chand Mera Dil marks Lakshya’s third project with Dharma Productions. The actor’s career saw a major turning point with Kill in 2024, where his violent and fearless performance won praise from both critics and audiences. Under the direction of Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the film was able to reveal how Lakshaya would confidently perform in roles that are emotionally and physically demanding.
Following this, Lakshya reached a wider audience through Aryan Khan’s debut Netflix series, The Bastards of Bollywood. The show became a massive success on OTT and helped establish him as a strong new-age performer. His screen presence, emotional depth and controlled acting were largely appreciated and this led to more varied and more high profile work.
With Chand Mera Dil, Lakshya steps into a romantic space, offering audiences a new side of his acting range alongside Ananya Panday.
