Mumbai: Yash Raj Films has announced a new release date of Alpha. The studio has officially announced that the action thriller, with Alia Bhatt in the lead role will now release in the theatres on April 17, 2026 as instead of the previously set date, December 25, 2025. The reason is simple: the visual effects need more time so the film can meet the studio’s high cinematic standards.

Alpha Release date Postponed

Alpha pairs Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in a hard-hitting story where these two women fight against Bobby Deol. Anil Kapoor is also plays a key role. According to YRF, the movie will be marked by a fierce battle and aims to bring big screen action and cinematic thrills. This is Alia’s first collaboration with Yash Raj Films and her entry into the YRF Spy Universe.

A spokesperson of YRF said that the crew wants Alpha to be seen in its most cinematic form, so post production will take a little longer to perfect the effects.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is being positioned as one of India’s full scale, female led action films from a major studio and a bold addition to YRF’s expanding spy world that already includes titles like Pathaan and Tiger 3. Their new April release leaves the makers with more time to refine action sequences and VFX, and it also leaves the film room to breathe outside of the crowded holiday window.

It is now possible that with the new date, Alpha will have time to make final touches and promotion. Fans can now expect the first real look at the film and its action set pieces when the makers release more material in the coming months.
