Mumbai: Shriya Saran has taken a bold step to protect her name and her well-wishers. On Wednesday, the actor publicly called out a person who has been impersonating her, using a fake phone number and even placing her photo as the display picture. Shocked and frustrated, she decided to post the evidence on Instagram to make sure no one gets fooled.
Shriya Saran Calls Out The Impersonator On Instagram
The actor shared a screenshot revealing the number used by the imposter. The profile also had Shriya’s picture, making the fake identity look more convincing.
Along with the screenshot, Shriya wrote a strong message. She said she felt bad that people’s time was being wasted and added, “Who ever this idiot is. Please stop writing to people and wasting time. Unfortunately this is weird. I feel bad for wasting people time.”
What made the situation worse for her was the fact that the impersonator was messaging individuals she truly admires and wishes to collaborate with. Addressing the person directly, she added, “This is not me. Not my number. On a lighter note the only good thing is, this crapy person is reaching out to people I admire and would love to work with. Very strange. Why would you waste your time to do this. Go get a life, not someone’s impersonator.”
Shriya Shares A ‘Scam Alert’ For Everyone
To be extra cautious, Shriya also posted a warning on her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “Scam alert… Fake. Getting calls from friends that someone is trying to impersonate me, kindly stay away from this fake number from any communications, work booking, strictly no payments.”

Her post received a wave of reactions. One fan wrote an emotional message expressing sympathy and reminding her that no impersonator can match her warmth or dignity. Others advised her not to give attention to the scammer, while some urged her to lodge a complaint with cybercrime officials.
