Mumbai: Some films are made inside studios, others step out and breathe the world. Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and backed by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, clearly belongs to the second category. The shooting of Dhurandhar has already become a topic of discussion in the industry as the film is about to hit the theatres on 5 December 2025.

The team did not remain in a single location in India, but they travelled through cities and countries and created a world that becomes real, rough, and full of motion. Each location was another dimension to the size of the film, Dhurandhar and each change of terrain posed another challenge to the crew.

Bangkok: Where the Journey Began

Dhurandhar

The production started in July 2024 in Bangkok, a city known for its filmmaking convenience and visual versatility. Aditya Dhar used this location to recreate scenes set in Pakistan. Bangkok’s busy lanes and modern skyline helped the team build high tension action sequences with controlled explosions and hand to hand combat.

Thailand also stood in for international conflict zones, proving how flexible the city can be for big scale action storytelling.

Amritsar

Dhurandhar

By November 2024, the team moved to Amritsar, where scenes were shot around the Golden Temple. Instead of using the shrine for spectacle, the director focused on emotional moments that needed cultural depth.

Shooting around such a holy space required careful coordination, and the local authorities supported the team in managing the heavy footfall.

Mumbai: The Heart of the Production

Dhurandhar

Mumbai, the main location of the production, carried out most of the work of Dhurandhar, which was carried out on a complex and technical scale.

Filmistan Studios – February 2025

In February 2025, filming continued at Filmistan Studios, where detailed indoor scenes and heavy set pieces were created.

Madh Island – April 2025

The crew moved to Madh Island later, with outdoor shooting completed at the end of April 2025. The island’s mix of quiet beaches and urban surroundings added texture without feeling overly familiar.

Golden Tobacco Factory – July 2025

In July 2025, the team shot a dramatic dance number at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Vile Parle. This industrial location brought a bold, raw atmosphere to what may be the film’s only colourful commercial set piece.

High-Speed Action on Dombivli-Mankoli Bridge

In May 2025, the crew took over the Dombivli-Mankoli bridge for a major action schedule. The long, open stretch provided the perfect space for chase sequences and stunts involving vehicles.

Bridges are known to be challenging due to wind pressure and strict permissions, but when captured well, they add instant scale. Dhurandhar seems to have used this location exactly for that cinematic impact.

Khera Village, Punjab: A Slice of Pakistan in India

Dhurandhar

The production also stopped at Khera village in Punjab, where parts of Pakistan were recreated once again. Locals were surprised and curious about their surroundings and paid attention to the presence of Pakistani flags and redesigned streets.

This glimpse into how cinema transforms real spaces shows how deeply films can interact with the everyday life of rural India.

Ladakh: Rugged Drama in Extreme Conditions

Dhurandhar

In August 2025, the team travelled to Patthar Sahib in Leh, Ladakh, to shoot scenes that needed harsh and isolated terrain. Ladakh’s natural beauty brings an untouched drama to the screen, but filming there is never easy.

Midway through the Ladakh schedule, many crew members suffered from food poisoning, forcing a brief pause. After recovery, the shoot resumed, and Ranveer Singh wrapped his portions by October 2025, maintaining his reputation for pushing through physically demanding roles.

A Film That Travelled Before Reaching Theatres

With filming completed and the final print ready, Dhurandhar stands as one of the biggest action releases of 2025. More than a thriller, it is a film shaped by the cities and landscapes it passed through. Through the congested streets of Bangkok to the serene lights of Amritsar, through the industrial belts of Mumbai to the cold and silence of Ladakh, each place has given its own imprint on the film.

As the countdown to 5 December 2025 begins, audiences are not just waiting for another Ranveer Singh action drama. They are waiting to experience the world Dhurandhar had created, a place, a climate, a challenge at a time.
