New Delhi: Adani Group has an enormous expansion and modernisation project to be implemented in its airports in India by 2030. The firm will incur approximately 15 billion dollars (₹4.15 lakh crore)to expand its airports into larger, improved, and passenger friendly ones. This is happening in India when air travel is increasing at a very rapid rate and the number of individuals opting to fly to work, holiday and family trips are at an all time high.

The largest component of this plan is the new Navi Mumbai International Airport that is set to be launched on December 25, 2025. Although the airport will commence business with its initial phase, the Adani Group already has a clear road map of expanding the airport into more. In the coming years, the group is planning to include a bigger terminal building, additional taxiways as well as an extra runway. The Navi Mumbai airport is projected to accommodate approximately 30 million passengers annually once the expansion is complete and this would make it be among the key airports in the nation.

Adani Group’s Expansion

The Adani Group also strives to enhance a number of other airports that it operates. These will be airports in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow and Guwahati. These airports will be majorly upgraded by offering more space in the terminals, in the runways and in the areas where passengers get served. This will help to provide smoother and comfortable travel to people by decreasing the number of people crowding and accelerating the traveling processes such as check-in and boarding. As an example, Ahmedabad Airport will obtain the necessary space to accommodate 16 million additional passengers annually, and Jaipur will accommodate 14 million additional passengers. The capacity of Thiruvananthapuram will be 8 million passengers more and Lucknow will have another 6 million passengers. These expansions will assist the airports to cater to the travellers in a convenient manner.

With all these developments, the overall passenger-carrying capacity of the airports operated by Adani will reach approximately 200 million passengers annually by 2030. The reason is that the air travel sector in India is developing at a very fast rate. India is projected to have almost 300 million passengers each year in coming years according to the experts. Unless infrastructure development is in tandem with this growth, airports will become congested and flight operations will slack. The Adani Group is keen on ensuring that its airports are equipped to handle this high growth of the travel demand.

Adani Group Intends to build 15 billion-dollar Expansion in India

The group will use borrowed funds and its own funds to finance this huge growth. Approximately 70 percent of the investment will be in the form of loans whereas the rest will be the contribution of the company. The funds will be expended in creating new terminals, reinforcing runways, setting up new technology, and enhancing parking, transport, and passenger waiting space. This will not only transform the airports into larger ones, but also contemporary and effective.

There is also serious concentration in India to enhance its aviation network. By 2047 the government plans to make the total figure of the airports in the country approximately 400 given the significance of air travel to the development of the country. With more or more airports being added and many existing ones being being refurbished, the Adani Group and other privates are assisting in the future of the aviation industry with huge investments and long-term strategies.
