New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday made it clear that the neighboring country hasn’t recovered yet from the blow it received. Speaking at an event in the capital, he called Operation Sindoor a brilliant example of tri-service unity.

When Army, Air Force and Navy worked shoulder to shoulder, the world saw what India’s strength is. The impact of our strategic strike is still visible today,” the minister said.

Old Methods Gone, New Challenges Begin

Rajnath Singh emphasized that border warfare is a thing of the past in today’s world. Now threats come in many forms.

Look, warfare has changed. It has become hybrid, asymmetrical. That’s why PM Modi has made several major changes so our forces stay fully prepared for the future,” he explained.

One Position Changed Everything

The decision to create the Chief of Defence Staff proved historic. Earlier all three services worked separately. Now they plan together.

This change was necessary. And the result is before us. The coordination shown in Operation Sindoor is the outcome of this thinking,” the minister said.

Civilians and Military Together

While launching a book, Rajnath Singh discussed the importance of civil-military fusion. This book has been written by Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd).

In today’s era, fusion of civilian technology and military applications is very important. When industry, private companies, universities and defence department work together, the nation’s strength increases,” he explained.

Numbers Tell the Story

The Defence Minister revealed that the situation was completely different a decade ago. India was the biggest weapons buyer. Now things have reversed.

Look at the numbers. Around 2015, our domestic production was just 46 thousand crores. Today it has crossed one-and-a-half lakh crores. That’s more than triple! Private sector has contributed 33 thousand crores in this,” Rajnath Singh said.

This change shows India is becoming a weapons-making nation, not a buying one.

Dual Use of Technology

The minister made an interesting point. He said many things made for civilian work can also work in military. And vice versa is also true.

We have many such technologies being used in just one field. If we deploy them in both places our national strength will multiply. This is the dual-use concept,” he explained.

Top Officials Present

The country’s top military officials from all three services were present at this event. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and several senior officers participated.

This event signals that the government is seriously committed to strengthening the defence sector.
