Mumbai: At the recently held It Starts Here event on March 19, Amazon Prime Video revealed its upcoming slate of films and series, and one title that quickly grabbed attention was Sundar Poonam. Led by Sanya Malhotra, the film promises a gripping mix of romance and psychological suspense, inspired by real-life incidents.
A haunting first glimpse builds intrigue
The makers released a short announcement teaser that introduces Sanya as Poonam, a mysterious bride whose story slowly unfolds. The preview maintains a chilling mood without revealing more significant information. The teaser, with its beautiful images and a haunting aura, suggests a multifaceted storyline, merging beauty and discomfort, and leaves the viewer wondering what is under the surface.
A love story that turns dangerously obsessive
The plot centres around a newly married couple who go missing during their honeymoon in Kashmir. As the case becomes deeper, attention turns to Poonam, and it becomes known that she has some disturbing facts regarding her past. What starts as a love story, quickly becomes much more menacing where obsession sets in and now secrets start coming out.
The film also stars Aditya Rawal in a key role, adding more intensity to the narrative. Backed by Tips Films Limited and Abundantia Entertainment, the project is produced by Kumar Taurani and Vikram Malhotra. Directed by Pulkit and written by Jyotsana Nath along with the director, Sundar Poonam aims to explore the darker side of relationships, where emotions blur and truth becomes difficult to grasp.
Sanya Malhotra, who prefers to play powerful and non-traditional roles, appears to be another performance-oriented performance. The movie is generating a buzz among viewers with its inspirational real-life elements and its heavy emphasis on suspense in the movie. Although the release date is not yet announced, Sundar Poonam is already one of the most interesting entries in the upcoming Prime Video portfolio.
