Mumbai: Anil Kapoor, a veteran actor, has given a rather interesting behind-the-scenes information about the upcoming action sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The actor recently disclosed that he was invited to appear in the film in a cameo role but has had to decline due to a clash in schedule.
The film is the sequel to the successful Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. The first installment released on December 5, 2025 and became a major box office success, thanks to its large scale storytelling and ensemble cast. The success of the original film has also raised expectations for the sequel.
Why Anil Kapoor declined the cameo
Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Anil Kapoor revealed that Aditya Dhar personally approached him for a small role in the sequel. However, the actor had already committed his dates to another filmmaker at that time and decided to honour his earlier commitment.
Kapoor said that professionalism and promise keeping have been a key role in his long career. He stated that he would have been delighted to be a part of the project but he felt that it was essential to be respectful of the dates he already had given to another film.
The actor also applauded Dhar and said he was eager to see the release of the film. Kapoor also stated that he missed the chance this time, but hopes that he may work with the director in future.
Fans speculate about the mysterious ‘Bade Sahab’
After Kapoor’s revelation, fans on social media began speculating about the role he might have played. Many believe he could have been approached to portray the mysterious character known as ‘Bade Sahab’, whose identity is expected to be revealed in the sequel.
There have also been rumours linking Emraan Hashmi to the role. However, the makers have not confirmed any casting details regarding the character.
Star studded cast and release date
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a film with a strong cast headed by Ranveer Singh. It also has a star cast of Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Akshaye Khanna.
The much awaited action drama is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, 2026. With excitement already building around the film, this new revelation from Anil Kapoor has only added another interesting layer to the buzz surrounding the sequel.
