Mumbai: Rising Bollywood actor Lakshya Lalwani may no longer be part of Dostana 2, according to the latest industry buzz. Sources suggest that the actor could step away from the long delayed project backed by Dharma Productions, as the casting of the film has still not been finalized despite the project being revived recently.
Lakshya made his Hindi film debut in Kill, a movie produced by Dharma Productions, and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, which is when he became widely known. Other starring action thriller include Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala. The movie has done well in the box office and made Lakshya one of the most discussed newcomers in the Bollywood film industry. The success of the film led to the actor to keep gaining traction with his performance in Ba***ds of Bollywood, a web show produced by Aryan Khan and which also has caught the eye of various months.
Uncertainty around the ‘Dostana 2’ cast
Despite the excitement around the revival of Dostana 2, the film’s cast is still not locked. The project had originally been planned years ago with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya in the lead roles. However, delays and changes in the production timeline led to the earlier lineup stepping away from the film.
A source revealed that while the sequel is definitely moving forward, the makers have not finalized the complete cast yet. The insider shared that Lakshya may not continue with the project. At the moment, Vikrant Massey is the only actor who has publicly confirmed his involvement after the film restarted development.
Lakshya focusing on ‘Chand Mera Dil’
Meanwhile, Lakshya is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming romantic drama Chand Mera Dil, where he will star opposite Ananya Panday. The film is once again backed by Dharma Productions and is directed by Vivek Soni. Scheduled to release on May 8, the project has already generated curiosity among fans because of the fresh on screen pairing of Lakshya and Ananya.
Dostana 2 continues with its cast finalization exercises, the industry awaits to find out who is finally going to star in the highly anticipated sequel. As it goes, the only thing that is definite at this point is that the movie is being rolled no matter the still speculation surrounding the main trio.
