Mumbai: After facing delays earlier, the long discussed biopic on legendary actress Madhubala is finally moving forward. With Kiara Advani joining to play the legendary star and a renowned filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, coming in as the producer, the project has acquired a new impetus. It will be directed by Jasmeet K. Reen who has directed the film Darlings which has received critical appreciation.
It was also reported that the biopic was earlier put on hold earlier on because of the budget constraint, yet the latest industry news is that the project has been now resumed and pre production work was underway. Although Kiara Advani will play the lead role in the movie, the producers are still in search of actors to play the parts of two significant people in the life of Madhubala, legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar.
A Film That Will Trace Madhubala’s Life And Legacy

The upcoming film will be a story of an extraordinary experience of Madhubala, starting with her childhood in the movie industry and the greatest heights to the greatest heroine in Hindi movies. It will also venture into the personal aspect of her life and her relationship with Dilip Kumar and marriage with Kishore Kumar, a singer actor. The story is expected to capture her struggles, her success, and the emotional chapters that shaped her life before her untimely death at the age of 36. The project is currently untitled.
Remembering The Legendary Star

Madhubala was born as Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi and started acting as a child artist in the 1940s and soon elevated to become one of the most revered actresses of her time. Throughout the years she starred in some of the most memorable movies such as Neel Kamal, Mahal and Amar. She subsequently gave hits in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Kala Pani and Barsaat Ki Raat.
She is known, however, most famously as Anarkali in the legendary historical epic, Mughal-e-Azam, a performance that remains one that defines her filmography in Indian cinema. On February 23, 1969, Madhubala died following a long illness of heart attack.
Meanwhile, Kiara Advani continues to stay busy with major projects. The actress will next appear in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups alongside Yash, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. With the Madhubala biopic now back on track, audiences are eager to see how the beloved star’s extraordinary life will be brought to the big screen.
