PM Modi Presents 6 New Global Initiatives at G20 Summit in Johannesburg

At the Johannesburg G20 Summit, PM Modi outlined six global initiatives on traditional knowledge, Africa skill development, satellite data sharing, critical minerals, and global healthcare cooperation.

New Delhi: India thinks about tomorrow. On 22nd November, Saturday, PM Modi’s vision was to tell the world what he thinks about the future at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. He proposed 6 new initiatives that will redefine global development priorities. From collaborative well-being to sustainable development, traditional knowledge repository to new frameworks for minerals, healthcare, and satellite data sharing, the initiatives cover all aspects of global growth.

What are the Initiatives?

  1. Global Traditional Knowledge Repository: Modi said this would be a global archive that will preserve countries’ indigenous knowledge systems and age-old practices to guide future innovations.
  2. Africa Skills Multiplier Program: This initiative aims at creating one million certified trainers who will guide Africa’s youth for future jobs and enhance their competitiveness.
  3. Global Healthcare Response Team: Expert medical professionals from summit member nations will create a team that could be deployed anywhere during medical emergencies.
  4. Countering the Drug-Terror Nexus: Considering global safety and security, Modi called for focus on countering trafficking networks and stopping terrorism funding.
  5. Open Satellite Data Partnership: G20 space agencies will make satellite imagery accessible for developing countries, and the data will be used for agriculture, environmental monitoring, fisheries, and disaster management with special focus on the Global South.
  6. Critical Minerals Circularity Initiative: This initiative aims at increasing recycling, promoting urban mining, and reducing dependency on mined materials.

Participatory Development Model of India

Modi highlighted India’s progress in public welfare, mentioning the world’s largest nutrition and food security program. He also mentioned that the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group formed under India’s G20 Presidency continues working in collaboration with the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

Integral Humanism: A New Blueprint

For the first time at a G20 summit, Prime Minister Modi introduced the philosophy of Integral Humanism on African soil. He calls it a framework for cooperation between economic progress, human welfare, and environmental equality. He believes this age-old approach from India’s civilizational base could show a more balanced and sustainable path to the world.
