Bristol: In a crucial ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 fixture, India is set to take on South Africa today. At the County Ground in Bristol the start of play was delayed by approximately one hour due to rain after which South African captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and elected to field first. With this decision the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team has been invited to set a target.
Due to the weather, the toss, which was delayed by an hour, took place at 3:00 PM IST. The match is now scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM IST. Given the moisture on the pitch and the overcast conditions, the South African team has opted to bowl first aiming to capitalize on the initial assistance for their bowlers.
The Playing XIs for both teams are as follows:
India: Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, Renuka Thakur Singh, Meghna Singh.
South Africa: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, Sune Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Masabata Klaas, Ayabonga Khaka, Nonkululeko Mlaba.
All eyes will now be on the Indian batters to see how they counter the challenging conditions and post a formidable score against South Africa’s strong bowling attack.
