Every year on International Women’s Day, people across the world celebrate the achievements, resilience, and strength of women. Cinema has never been a minor aspect in mirroring the society, and Bollywood has provided viewers with countless memorable tales of women who stand against all the odds, defy stereotypes, and effect change.
Throughout the years, there are Hindi movies that have put women in the focus of strong stories. These stories go beyond glamour and romance. They show courage, independence, emotional strength, and the right to live life on one’s own terms. These movies can remind us about the importance of women’s stories, whether through spies and survivor stories or homemaker stories of finding their voice.
On Women’s Day, here is a look at seven impactful Bollywood films that celebrate the many shades of womanhood.
1. Raazi (2018)

The spy thriller element is not the only thing that makes the film so strong but the emotional power of the women who play the main role. Sehmat is a man who leads two lives and lives in fear, loneliness and dilemmas, all in her country. On Women’s Day, Raazi stands as a reminder that courage is not always loud. Sometimes it is quiet determination and sacrifice that show true strength.
