New Delhi, November 11 (H.S.): In the investigation of the explosion near Red Fort Metro Station, police revealed that the Hyundai i20 car involved was registered in the name of Mohammad Salman. Acting on Delhi Police information, Gurugram Police detained Salman on Monday night for questioning.

During interrogation, Salman stated that he had sold the car about one and a half years ago to a man named Devendra, a resident of Okhla in Delhi. He also handed over all the sale documents to Gurugram Police to help investigators trace the subsequent chain of ownership.

The probe has now shifted focus to Devendra, who allegedly sold the vehicle further in Ambala, Haryana. Ambala Police are currently working to identify the new owner and determine who possessed and drove the car to Delhi at the time of the explosion.

Preliminary investigation has also hinted at possible links with Pulwama-based terrorist Tareeq, though senior police officials have not confirmed any such connection yet.

Eyewitness Account

Eyewitness Mohammad Faizan, a rickshaw driver, said he was waiting for passengers near Red Fort when the explosion occurred around 6:45 p.m. “There was a loud blast followed by chaos everywhere. Several cars caught fire. I saw pieces of bodies scattered on the road,” he said.

Faizan added that traffic jams are common near the Red Fort and that police presence is usually minimal. “Had police officers been present in sufficient numbers, maybe fewer people would have been injured,” he said.

The explosion triggered fires in nearby vehicles, deepening the panic among commuters and residents in the area.
