New Delhi, September 13 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a three-day visit to Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar from today(September 13–15), rolling out infrastructure and connectivity projects valued at over ₹71,850 crore, in what is being hailed as a transformative push for regional growth and national integration.

The visit will see the Prime Minister inaugurating new airports, launching rail projects, enhancing road and energy networks, and unveiling strategic initiatives ranging from petrochemicals to agriculture. He is also set to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference of the Armed Forces in Kolkata, under the theme “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future.”
Mizoram: Historic Rail Connectivity and Regional Infrastructure
In Aizawl, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects exceeding ₹9,000 crore, including the Bairabi–Sairang New Rail Line, which links Mizoram to India’s rail network for the first time. Constructed across challenging terrain with 45 tunnels and 143 bridges, the ₹8,070-crore project symbolizes a major breakthrough in last-mile connectivity.
He will also flag off three express trains – Sairang–Delhi Rajdhani Express, Sairang–Guwahati Express, and Sairang–Kolkata Express – directly connecting Mizoram with India’s key metros.
Other initiatives include new road projects, a multipurpose sports hall under Khelo India, an LPG bottling plant, bridges under the Kaladan Multimodal Transit framework, and new educational institutions such as Eklavya Model School and a Residential School at Kawrthah.
Manipur: Urban Transformation and Digital Push
At Churachandpur,PM Modi will launch projects worth over ₹7,300 crore, including the Manipur Urban Roads and Drainage Project valued at ₹3,600 crore and five National Highway projects worth ₹2,500 crore. The Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project, women’s hostels, and infrastructure for digital-age growth are also on the agenda.
In Imphal, he will inaugurate projects worth ₹1,200 crore, including the new Civil Secretariat, an IT SEZ, police headquarters, and expanded Ima Markets — the iconic women-run marketplaces of Manipur.
Assam: Honouring Cultural Icons and Driving Industrial Growth
On September 13, the Prime Minister will participate in centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati, underscoring the cultural legacy of the legendary musician and poet.
The following day, he will unveil infrastructure and industrial projects worth ₹18,530 crore. Highlights include the Assam Bio-ethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery, a Polypropylene Unit to boost the petrochemical sector, and the foundation laying of a new medical college, nursing institutions, Guwahati Ring Road, and a Brahmaputra bridge, strengthening health, transport, and clean energy avenues.
West Bengal: National Security and Defence Vision
On September 15,PM Modi will inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025 in Kolkata, a biennial conclave where India’s top defence leadership will chart out future strategies for military preparedness and reform.
Bihar: National Makhana Board and Regional Connectivity Boost
On the concluding day of his tour, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal at Purnea Airport, launch the National Makhana Board, and kick off projects worth nearly ₹36,000 crore.
Bihar, which produces about 90% of India’s makhana, will see the new Board promote cultivation, processing, and global exports of the nutritious superfood.
Among the state’s major announcements are:
- A ₹25,000 crore thermal power project at Pirpainti, designed with ultra-super critical low-emission technology.
- Kosi-Mechi Interlink Project (Phase 1) worth ₹2,680 crore, enhancing irrigation and flood management.
- Foundational works for a critical rail line across the Ganga and inauguration of the Arariya-Galgalia corridor.
- Flagging off of new trains including the Jogbani-Danapur Vande Bharat Express and multiple Amrit Bharat Express trains.
- A Sex Sorted Semen Facility in Purnea, the first of its kind for eastern India, designed to revolutionize dairy production.
- Beneficiary handovers under PMAY housing schemes and ₹500 crore in community investment funds under DAY-NRLM for women’s self-help groups.
With projects straddling infrastructure, energy, agriculture, culture, and defence, Modi’s five-state whirlwind tour is being positioned as a defining blueprint for equitable development and regional empowerment.
