Delhi, 19 September (H.S.): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that India’s Operation Sindoor had shown the country’s enemies the true strength of its retaliation after the terror attack in Pahalgam.
Addressing a gathering of 1965 war veterans, Singh lauded the courage and coordination of the armed forces. He said the success of the operation had turned victory into a “habit” for India.
Singh recalled the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people lost their lives, saying the incident had shaken the nation but failed to break its morale. He stressed that the government was determined to punish those behind the assault.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The strikes led to four days of heavy clashes, which ended on May 10 after an understanding was reached to stop military actions.
Reflecting on India’s challenges since Independence, the Defence Minister said the country had never been fortunate with its neighbours but had always turned adversity into an opportunity to shape its destiny.
