Mumbai: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has finally put an end to the growing rumours around Luka Chuppi 2. Over the past few months, reports suggested that Varun was set to headline a sequel to the 2019 romantic comedy alongside Sharvari. But the actor now openly denies having signed any such project.
Varun Dhawan Responds Directly to Fans
Varun addressed the speculation during an interactive session with fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. When asked about his future projects after his recent announcement Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the actor gave a straightforward reply.
He wrote, “Not signed any film. There is no sequel of any other film I’m doing. Will decide.”
With this statement, Varun made it clear that he has not committed to Luka Chuppi 2 or any other sequel at the moment. His response directly shuts down reports claiming that the project was already in motion.
What Sparked the Luka Chuppi 2 Buzz
Earlier media reports had suggested that Luka Chuppi 2 was expected to enter pre production in early 2026. Varun Dhawan and Sharvari were reportedly being considered as the new lead pair as per those claims. Luka Chuppi was an original film, published in 2019 and directed by Laxman Utekar, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon.
Those news also reported that the sequel had created six to eight month delays, which were primarily caused by schedule conflicts with the director. However, Varun’s recent clarification confirms that these reports were premature and not backed by any official signing.
Varun Dhawan’s Confirmed Upcoming Film
While rumours around sequels continue to surface, Varun’s current lineup remains clear and limited. As of now, his only confirmed upcoming release is the war drama Border 2. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23, 2026.
Varun portrays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in Border 2. The movie is blessed with an excellent star cast like Diljit Dosanjh, Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa and Mona Singh. The project is regarded as one of the most anticipated films in 2026.
With his latest statement, Varun Dhawan has made it clear that he is being selective about his future projects and has not locked anything beyond his announced films. Fans who expected to see him in Luka Chuppi 2 might have to wait or they should be content with the fact that there might be no sequel at all.
For now, the actor seems focused on choosing his next steps carefully, leaving the door open but making no promises. With the speculation going on in the Bollywood circles, the words of Varun are a reminder. Predominantly, it is the official confirmation that is more important than viral news.
