Mumbai: More than two decades after its original release, Tere Naam is all set to make a comeback on the big screen. The cult film featuring Salman Khan, will be re-released in PVR Inox cinemas on February 27, which is a long-time request among enthusiasts and movie lovers.
The announcement was made by PVR Cinemas on January 30, and it instantly sent fans into celebration mode. Reactions of Salman Khan admirers and viewers who have been raised on the film music, dialogues and the iconic hairstyle flooded social media. Tere Naam is not only a movie to many, but a feeling that characterized an age of intense romantic films in the world of Bollywood.
Why the demand for Tere Naam never faded
Over the years, Tere Naam has continued to stay relevant, especially among younger audiences. The success of films like Kabir Singh (2019), Animal (2023), Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (2025) and Tere Ishk Mein (2025) has reignited interest in intense, obsessive love stories. Such movies are typically compared to Tere Naam, which had addressed those feelings of extremes much earlier.

There is also a whole generation that either was not born in 2003 or missed watching the film in theatres. To them, the re-release presents an opportunity to feel the heartbreak, passion and music of Tere Naam on the big screen like never before.
About Tere Naam

Released in 2003, Tere Naam was directed by Satish Kaushik and starred Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla in lead roles. Salman starred as Radhe Mohan, a hot-tempered yet very emotional young man, while Bhumika portrayed Nirjara, a simple and soft-spoken woman from a traditional family.
The film tells the tragic love story of Radhe and Nirjara, where obsession, misunderstandings and fate lead to heartbreak and loss. The emotional center of the story is that Radhe used to be a carefree lover but now he became a broken man. It features the climax as a mental asylum, which is one of the most discussed endings of Salman Khan in his career.
The music of Tere Naam, composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid, played a huge role in its popularity. Such songs as Tere Naam, Tumse Milna, Odhni and Man Basia were a success on the charts and are still in memory. The long hair style of Salman Khan in the movie served as a cultural icon and shaped up millions of fans in the nation.
More classic films return this Valentine season
Tere Naam is part of a special line-up of re-releases planned by PVR Inox in February. Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas (2002) will return to theatres on February 6, followed by Mani Ratnam’s Yuva (2004) on February 13. The three movies are being reintroduced during the valentine day festivities, and audiences will have an opportunity to rewatch classic love stories and intense dramas on the big screen.
With nostalgia running high and fans eager to revisit Radhe’s heartbreaking journey, Tere Naam’s re-release on February 27 promises to be a special cinematic event for Bollywood lovers.
