Mumbai: The much-awaited cinematic adaptation of the epic Ramayana is taking a big step forward. Producer Namit Malhotra has officially announced that the first glimpse titled Rama will be unveiled on April 2. The date holds special importance as it falls on Hanuman Jayanti, making the reveal even more meaningful for fans.
A spiritual announcement with a global vision
The update came on the occasion of Ram Navami, when Malhotra shared a heartfelt note on social media. He spoke about the responsibility of bringing this legendary story to life with honesty and devotion. He also confirmed that the Rama glimpse will not just be a regular teaser drop, but a grand worldwide event celebrating the journey of the film with fans across the globe.
This global reveal reflects the massive scale the team is aiming for. The makers had earlier created buzz with a multi-city launch in India and even showcased the film at Times Square, hinting at its international ambitions.
Ramayana: A mega project with powerful storytelling
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is conceived as a cinema in two parts. Set around 5000 years ago, the story promises to be a modern technological emotion storytelling recreation of the epic in a brand new way that is both respectful and modern.
The project is being put-up on a huge scale with global collaboration. It is backed by Prime Focus Studios, together with Oscar winning VFX company DNEG and Monster Mind Creations.
Star-studded cast adds to the excitement
The film has an impressive ensemble. Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Lord Ram while Sai Pallavi will be portraying the role of Sita. Yash steps into the powerful roles of Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. With such a strong cast and large-scale production, expectations are already sky-high.
Release timeline locked for festive seasons
The makers have planned a strategic release for both parts. The first instalment will hit theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027. The film is also set for a worldwide IMAX release, promising a larger-than-life theatrical experience.
