Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra is officially returning to Indian cinema, and her comeback project is nothing short of massive. The global star will be seen in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming Telugu film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a key role. As excitement around the film continues to grow, Priyanka has now shared an interesting behind the scenes story that adds a fun twist to the highly anticipated project.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend Priyanka said she only had a single request before agreeing to the movie. She wanted to dance.
“Will you make me dance?” Priyanka’s request that changed the film
Discussing her choice of coming back to Indian movies after a very long time, Priyanka claimed that she simply asked SS Rajamouli whether he would provide her with a dance sequence. She confessed that she had missed dancing in Indian films and she did not want to miss the chance.
“I had one request. Will you make me dance? Please, because I haven’t danced for so long,” she recalled.
What followed was more than she expected. “I should not have asked, because we are dancing. Oh my gosh, there’s a lot.”
The request did not just lead to a dance number for her alone. Priyanka, says Mahesh Babu had to get in on this, too, which she said she put on herself, jokingly. She shared that Mahesh laughed and told her, “It’s because of you. Because of you, I have to do it too.”
Mahesh Babu calls the song sensational
Mahesh Babu has also spoken about the dance sequence and confirmed that it has already become a memorable part of the film. Describing it as sensational, the actor claimed that one of the songs has already been filmed and it keeps staying with them.
He added that the song keeps playing in their minds and that Priyanka often hums it on set. The whole sequence, according to him, occurred because she wanted to dance and he made it happen by the name Rajamouli. This has further brought about curiosity to the musical aspects of the film.
