Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra is officially stepping back into Indian cinema and fans cannot keep calm. The global star is set to return with SS Rajamouli’s much awaited action adventure Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a key role. The movie is one of the largest collaborations in the recent times and marks a grand homecoming of Priyanka after years of international work.
However, Varanasi is not the only Indian film on her plate. Farhan Akhtar has also included Priyanka Chopra in his Jee Le Zaraa, which features Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. To that end, there is fresh talk about the Krrish franchise that she could re-enter once again.
A Teaser Event That Started It All
During the teaser reveal of Varanasi, the cast sat down for an interview where Priyanka was asked about Don 3 and Krrish 4. Rather than providing a direct reply, the actress smiled and remarked that she was not certain whether she was even supposed to discuss those films. Her cautious but only too playful reply immediately gave notice.
Adding fuel to the fire, Mahesh Babu jumped into the conversation with a light hearted comment that made it seem like something big was indeed in the works. This was soon picked up and posted all over social media, and fans interpreted the reaction of Priyanka as not denying but suggesting otherwise.
Krrish 4 Talks Gain Momentum
While there is still no official announcement from the makers of Krrish 4 or from Hrithik Roshan, reports suggest that Hrithik and Priyanka recently met in the US. In these reports, the two talked about the future of the superhero franchise. Sources also say that Priyanka is supposed to come back as a character that fans loved Priya Mehra.
Her reaction during the interview has only strengthened these reports, making many believe that her comeback to the Krrish universe is almost certain.
In the case of Don 3, the movie remains suspended following the withdrawal of Ranveer Singh who pulled out of the project. However, Krrish 4 is reportedly starting shooting at some point this year but the makers have not unveiled the exact timeline.
With Varanasi leading the way and strong hints around Krrish 4, Priyanka Chopra’s return to Indian cinema is shaping up to be one of the most exciting developments for fans this year.
