Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming comedy drama Pati Patni Aur Woh Do will no longer release in cinemas on March 4 as originally planned. The makers have opted to delay the release after they realised that the movie is not ready to be released to the theatre.

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the decision was taken because the post production work is still underway and one song is yet to be shot. The team believes they have made a special film and does not want to rush the final stages. They rather wish to take the necessary time to make the film highly entertaining and attractive to the viewers. It is hoped that a new release date will be announced soon.

March 4 Slot Now Open for Other Films

With Pati Patni Aur Woh Do moving out of the March 4 window, the date is now open for other releases. However, trade experts point out that the period comes with both challenges and advantages. It will be in the holy month of Ramzan, and some of the major releases such as Dhurandhar The Revenge and Toxic will be released on March 19. To make the competition worse, the semi finals and finals of the 2026 Men T20 World Cup will be held between March 4 and March 8.

Meanwhile, the Holi week falls on a Wednesday, thus any film that opens on March 4, has the advantage of a five day extended weekend and a squeaky clean two week theatrical run. The industry is now watching closely to see if any producer steps in to claim the vacant date.

About Pati Patni Aur Woh Do

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do stars Ayushmann Khurrana along with Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh. The film introduces a new story set in the world of Prajapati Pandey and promises a mix of comedy, drama and romance. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra, with Juno Chopra serving as the creative producer.

The film follows the success of Pati Patni Aur Woh released in 2019, which starred Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. The previous film directed by Mudassar Aziz was a blockbuster and made Rs. 86.89 crores. Having such a great legacy, the sequel is expected to be highly successful, which is why the decision by its makers to postpone its release looks even more justified.
