Mumbai: Music composer and director Palaash Muchhal and Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana were all set to get married on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra. The once planned grand and happy celebration became an emotional tornado when the father of Smriti Shrinivas Mandhana abruptly fell ill in the morning of the ceremony.
According to reports, he complained of chest discomfort and was immediately rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre. Physicians held him in observation and conducted tests to stabilise him. With the family’s focus completely on his health, the wedding was postponed indefinitely.
Emotional Impact on Both Families
The unexpected medical emergency deeply affected both families. It had an emotional toll on Palaash as well, who is very close to the father of Smriti. His mother explained how much of a stress he experienced.
She told Hindustan Times, “He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out. Everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress.”
Hours after Smriti Mandhana’s father was hospitalised, Palaash too had to be admitted due to stress related health issues. Both have thankfully been discharged and are now recovering with their families.
Palak Muchhal Breaks Her Silence
Amid the growing chatter and social media speculation, Palaash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, has finally spoken about the situation. In an interview with Filmfare, she addressed the attention surrounding the postponed wedding and shared how difficult the phase has been.
She said,
“I think the families have been through a very, very tough time and like you just said… I would just want to repeat that we would like to believe in positivity in this time and spread positivity as much as we can. And stay strong… yeah.”
Her statement reflects the effort both families are making to stay hopeful despite the pressure and rumours circulating online.
Rumours Add to the Pressure
Soon after the news of the postponement, several unverified claims began circulating on social media. Some users accused Palaash of being unfaithful and even claimed that Smriti Mandhana caught him cheating the night before the wedding. These rumours quickly spread, although neither family has issued any statement confirming or commenting on such claims.
Smriti’s brother Shravan Mandhana recently stepped forward to clarify the situation. Amid reports that the wedding might take place on December 7, he confirmed that no new date has been decided and the ceremony remains postponed.
Subtle Social Media Move: The Nazar Emoji
While both Palaash and Smriti Mandhana have chosen to stay silent publicly, fans noticed a small but meaningful change on their Instagram profiles. Both updated their bios to include the nazar emoji, a symbol believed to protect against negativity. Many followers interpreted this as a quiet response to the intense rumours and scrutiny.
What’s Next For Smriti Mandhana?
After being discharged, Palaash has returned to Mumbai to be with his family, while Smriti Mandhana continues to stay in Sangli with her parents during her father’s recovery. Recently, the composer was spotted at Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan, which added more curiosity online, but no official statements about the visit have been released.
As of now, the wedding stands postponed with no fresh date announced. Both families are focusing on health and healing before taking any next steps.
