Mumbai: Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much talked about film NBK111 is reportedly going through significant changes behind the scenes. From creative reworking to casting decisions, the project is being reshaped to align better with current market realities and audience expectations.
Industry reports suggest that the makers have rewritten the initial storyline and are rethinking the female protagonist in the film. Nayanthara, who was earlier associated with the project, may no longer be part of NBK111 as the team restructures the film. While there is no official confirmation yet, the change is said to be part of a broader revamp of the project.
Budget Recalibration Drives Creative Shift
NBK111 was initially envisioned as a big budget film with an estimated budget of approximately 170 crores. But due to the uncertainty that is prevailing in the OTT market and the decline in acquisition prices, the producers are currently reported to be becoming more cautious. It is said that the film is being re-scripted into a full-fledged mass entertainer that targets directly the loyal fan base of Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Instead of an experimental high budget narrative, the focus has now shifted to Balakrishna’s trademark larger than life screen presence, powerful action sequences, and strong commercial elements. It is a move that is likely to make the film relate better with the audiences but maintain the meant costs.

Nayanthara is among the highest paid actresses in South cinema and reportedly charges close to Rs. 11 crore per film. Interestingly, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nayanthara were last seen together on the big screen seven years ago in Jai Simha. Whether NBK111 will reunite them or introduce a new pairing remains to be seen.
