Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited directorial Love And War, which brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal for the first time, has hit another delay. Billed as one of the most thrilling casting mixes of late times, the film has been in production since November 2024 and was initially planned for a December 2025 release. Nonetheless, constant revisions of schedules have moved the project further down the calendar.
The makers had earlier announced an Eid 2026 release, raising expectations among fans. But that timeline now seems unlikely, as the film’s shoot has officially been extended. It is now reported by credible sources that Love And War will resume shooting till May 2026, and this is a considerable addition to the shooting time.
Shoot Extension Impacts Cast Schedules
With the revised plan in place, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal have blocked their dates until May 2026. The extension has caused delays in several of their other professional commitments, as additional shoot days have been added to complete the film. The extended timeline also caused the increase of the overall budget turning Love And War into an even greater scale project than it was initially planned.
Earlier, reports had suggested that Ranbir Kapoor had requested Bhansali to target a June 2026 release. However, with filming now running till May, a June release is no longer possible. The director is currently planning to release the film in theatres in August or September 2026 and the final date should be fixed shortly.
Ripple Effect on Future Projects
The delay has reportedly caused concern for some members of the Ramayana team, as they were hoping for a minimum gap of six months between Love And War and Ramayana. As Bhansali film approaches the end of 2026, that timeline is significantly reduced and this is causing some difficulties in scheduling.
Despite the setbacks, Love And War remains one of the most anticipated films on the horizon. This blend of the big vision of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the formidable trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal is still creating a lot of buzz. Although the wait has been extended, expectations are still high since the movie is currently preparing to release in theatres at the end of 2026.
